STXC # 3 - School's Out! Junior & Newbie Night p/b Bike Gallery

Never raced Short Track before, but like to give it a try?... Have friends who you think should give Short Track a shot?... just come race next Monday and enjoy two great deals:

  1. All newbie short track racers (i.e. anyone who has never raced in the Portland Short Track Series before) will enjoy $10 off the regular day-of-race fee.

In other words, if you have never raced short track before, you will get to race for just $15 (adult racer) or only $5 (junior racer 18 or under).

To top it off, we will raffle off a bunch of cool prizes - courtesy of the Bike Gallery and our other sponsors - among all junior and newbie racers who race this Monday!

And, like every week, we will host FREE short track skills clinics (from 5 to 6pm), FREE kids races (at 6:00pm) for the younger ones, and FREE Dave's Killer Bread PB&J sandwiches (and ice-cooled water!) at our food station.

STXC # 4 - Breadwinner Wheelie Night

Right before we take a mid-series break, we will continue putting the FUN in Short Track racing and - per popular request - bring back our Short Track Wheelie Night, presented by Breadwinner Cycles!

The plan is simple: tonight's course will feature a designated "Breadwinner Wheelie Zone" (located in the area under the trees, after you exit the motocross course) where riders are encouraged to perform their best wheelie, with the chance of getting the stamp of approval of the Breadwinner Wheelie Jury and win prizes!

After your race, just go to the Wheelie Zone to see if your attempt made the honor roll and and stay around to cheer on the wheelie-ing racers in the next race heats.

Six Hours of Mount Hood

This year will mark the 9th edition of Oregon's most fun Mountain Bike Endurance & Relay Race - presented by Sellwood Cycle Repair - and another Portland Racing Classic.

Come race - as a two-person team or solo - with hundreds of other mountain bike enthusiasts, for six hours straight, in a fabulous setting, on a fun and varied loop at the Mt Hood Skibowl mountain resort (in Government Camp, OR).

Leave the spandex at home and come race in your best Summer Casual race outfit. To get an idea of what we're talking about and get some inspiration for Monday, check out the photos of last year and the winners of the year before.

The most hilarious outfits (male and female)  in each race heat will win some very cool PDW prizes. So get the creative juices flowing and think beyond just cut-off jeans and t-shirts.... anything goes, as long as it doesn't weird out any of the kiddie racers!

STXC # 6 - "Getting The band back together" Night

After 14 seasons of Short Track, it's time for a roll call of all folks who raced the series over the years and haven't been out there for a while!

Mark your calendar, get your bike back together, and head over to PIR to bring back the "good ol' times", which - as we just realize - never really went away.... Short Track is still the same old song:  kids of all ages having a blast racing bikes in circles for 25 minutes on a rad course; then, catch your breath, chill, laugh, and get ready to do it all over again the next week!

Racers who haven't raced short track in the last 5 years will enjoy a special "relapse discount deal" and at 6 PM (right before the start of the Cat 1 Kids race), we'll host a FREE and all-for-fun "originals" hot lap race, for any "old timers" who raced Short Track in the early years (2005-2010).

Participating racers will receive call-ups in order of seniority (starting with the "Class of 2005") and are encouraged to bring and sport their vintage race plates and any old-timey bike race outfits that would be fitting for the occasion and pass the smell test.

STXC # 7 - Pedal to the Metal Holeshot Night

This is the night for all you fast cats and backyard drag racers!

We'll have cool prizes for the Holeshot Winner in each category, including the Cat 1 Kids!

Pro-tip: come pre-ride the course before your race to find out the exact location of the holeshot and to device your sprint-winning strategy.

Portland Racing "Cyclocross Classic"

While Cross Crusade is taking a break this weekend, our crew will satisfy your cross cravings and entertain the crowds with a "classic PDX-style" cross race at an all-new venue.

More details to come later this summer, but mark already the date on your calendar, because we plan to make it "the one cross race this year you don't want to miss out on!"

Also, the top-secret venue we have taken an option on is located in the larger PDX area and there will be room for overnight camping and some fun Saturday PM/eve activities.
